In looking to change an oil filter, you may have come across some suspiciously cheap incarnations. These might look like OEM parts, but why is the price so much lower? Or maybe you’re experiencing some engine problems after you got an oil change and wondering: is something wrong with the new filter?

Counterfeit oil filters do exist, and often do a surprisingly good job impersonating the packaging and exterior look of a genuine OEM (Original Engine Manufacturer) part.
